No. Maras is run by the local community and charges its own entrance fee, separate from the tourist ticket. You only pay it on the VIP tour.

Q: What documents do I need for the Cusco tourist ticket?

Your passport if you are a foreign visitor, or your DNI if you are Peruvian. You show it when buying and at each site entrance, so carry it with you all day.

What is the Cusco tourist ticket?

It is an official pass issued by the regional government of Cusco through COSITUC. Instead of paying at each site, a single ticket gives access to a group of archaeological sites and museums in Cusco and the Sacred Valley.

Tickets are not part of the tour price because the operator does not collect them: the regional government does, and in the case of Maras, the local community. We would rather show them separately than fold them into the fare.

The exception: Maras

The Maras salt mines are run independently by the community of Maras, which charges its own fee. It is not on the tourist ticket and you only need it on the VIP tour.

Documents

Which document you need for the tourist ticket

COSITUC asks for it when you buy, and so do the staff at each site. Carry the original with you on the day, not a photo on your phone.

Foreign visitor A valid passport. This is the document shown at purchase and at the entrance to each archaeological site.

Peruvian visitor DNI. Peruvians and resident foreigners get the national rate, lower than the foreign visitor rate.

Children aged 0 to 9 They do not pay for the tourist ticket. Still bring their ID or birth certificate to prove their age.

Ages 10 to 17 They pay the student rate on presenting an ID document proving their age (DNI or passport).

Peruvian student, 18 to 25 Student rate with a valid university card issued by SUNEDU.

Foreign student, 18 to 25 Student rate with a valid ISIC card. Other cards, such as the ITIC for teachers or the IYTC, give no discount.

The tourist ticket is not sold online: you buy it in person, at the official ticket offices or the COSITUC counter, usually in cash and in soles. For the Maras salt mines, the community charges its fee separately, at the gate.
