What Moray is

Moray lies on the Maras plateau, at around 3,500 m. Its terraces form concentric circles dropping towards the centre, an unusual shape among Inca terraces and striking from the first glance.

Temperature and sun exposure change between the highest and lowest levels. That is why the Incas are believed to have used the site to acclimatise and test crops under different conditions, like an open-air laboratory.
